Advanced Behavioral Health, Inc. (ABH) has expanded its mental health services to Washington County with the opening of a new outpatient office in Hagerstown. The location, which began seeing patients on September 1, 2026, marks the organization's first presence in the county, extending its reach to six counties across Maryland.
The new office at 265 Mill Street, Suite 800, Hagerstown, MD 21740, offers a range of services including onsite and offsite individual and family therapy, school-based therapy, telehealth counseling, and psychiatric evaluation and medication management. This expansion is part of ABH's commitment to meeting clients where they are, ensuring that Washington County residents have access to the same standard of clinical care available at its other locations.
Vera Kurdian, CEO of ABH, emphasized the importance of the expansion: "Serving families and supporting communities one individual at a time is what we do best. This expansion allows us to build a collaborative partnership in Washington County, where families can expect high-quality and timely mental health and psychiatric services. This expansion also provides job opportunities for mental health professionals, from an organization as committed to its employees as it is to its patients."
ABH also plans to introduce its Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) to the Hagerstown office once Maryland's PRP moratorium lifts, expected in 2027, further building out the continuum of care available to Washington County residents.
The opening of this office is significant for the community, as it addresses a critical need for accessible mental health services in the area. By offering a comprehensive range of services, ABH aims to reduce barriers to care, including those related to transportation and stigma. The inclusion of telehealth options also provides flexibility for patients who may prefer remote sessions.
ABH accepts major insurance, Medicaid, and maintains a discounted fee program to ensure that no individual is denied access to care due to inability to pay, with eligibility requirements applying. This commitment to affordability and accessibility underscores the organization's mission to expand behavioral health services throughout the state.
The expansion also brings employment opportunities to the region, as ABH hires mental health professionals to staff the new office. This is particularly timely given the ongoing demand for behavioral health services and the need for qualified providers.
